This Recommended Practice (RP), IEST-RP-NANO-202, will describe testing methods for determining the efficiency of devices used for the containment of aerosolized nanomaterials.  These methods will enable the determination of an efficiency rating, which may be useful for quantifying the performance of containment devices and assessing the risk of fugitive nanoparticle emissions.  The unique contribution of this recommended practice is that it will describe methods of nanoaerosol generation and measurement in the context of evaluating the performance of aerosol containment devices.  Information provided by this document may be of use to manufacturers of containment devices, third-party verifiers, and facility safety managers.

The first edition of Testing Aerosol-Nanomaterial Containment Devices is under development by Working Group 202 of the IEST Contamination Control Division (WG-NANO-202).
